I was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1955 and I have lived in Cologne, Germany since 1978. I studied at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology. From a young age, I was fascinated by art - a passion that evolved throughout my studies as I experimented with different materials, structures, and techniques.
I have been creating paintings, black-and-white photographs, and sculptures made of steel, concrete, and wood since 1980. My art developed alongside my professional work, drawing from it precision, material awareness, and respect for the creative process.
I warmly invite you to explore my artwork. I am continually working on new projects, which will soon appear on the website, and I actively participate in art exhibitions and fairs in Germany and Poland.
In 2020, I published an album celebrating 40th anniversary of my artistic activity, showcasing a selection of my works.
"Wojtek is a master. He senses and sees the texture of the image – that is a rare talent! This idea, the concept of color as material, is brilliant. Nowadays, many people use photography as a base to create tangible, textured portraits and canvases. But he creates classics.
His color is matter and element. He draws it out of chaos, out of nothingness. That is magnificent. His culture is mysterious. His world of metal and his urban blurs are very fascinating. This is an industrial essence – very distinctive and meaningful.“

"Wojtek is an artist who thinks in matter. His painting begins with an encounter with the material – with pigment, surface, weight, and the resistance of the medium, which become carriers of meaning, energy, and traces of thought.
What is especially essential for him is the relationship to matter: to wood, steel, and concrete. It is a dialogue, not a dominance. The artist allows the material its own language, preserving its history, its wounds, and its imperfections.
The work of Wojtek Figielski can be read as a philosophical reflection on presence, transience, and the relationship between human beings and their environment. It is concentrated, sincere art, deeply rooted in the experience of the world.“
